Kori Danda Trek - short and easy trek in Annapurna
The Kori Danda Trek is one of the short and easy treks from Pokhara. This newly introduced and less touristy route heads north of Pokhara to the highland grazing of the Siklis village, famous as one of the largest, self-sufficient, and culturally rich Gurung villages. 4-Day Kori Danda Trek Itinerary
The Kori Hill trek starts with a short and scenic drive to Siklish village, upstream Madi Nadi (River), 1980 m. The trail from Siklis climbs gradually through the lush forest of rhododendron and oak to a teahouse settlement of Tasha at 2,700 m. The next day, the trail climbs above the treeline to the pasture of Kori Danda at 3800 m. This short trek in Nepal spans 5 to 7 days, making it a week's trip in Nepal with visits to both Kathmandu and Pokhara. Kori Danda Trek Review
My brother and I went on the Kori Danda trek through I Tour Nepal. Rabi organised the trek and was attentive and professional by email prior to arrival. He also ensured that all transfers were smooth and that we were kept well informed throughout.
During our trip, our guide was Dil and porter was Prabin. They were both fantastic company: knowledgeable, fun, friendly, helpful, and just genuinely marvellous people. Dil has decades of experience and was very responsive to our needs throughout the trip (both from minute to minute and day to day). He was a great guide and really adapted the trip marvellously when the weather was not great. Prabin was constantly positive, interested, and interesting and he and Dil worked very well together. We could not have wished for better and hope to do further tours with them in Nepal in the future.
Kori Danda was sublime: the walking was manageable and challenging enough (and not too much!) with exceptional views and delightful countryside. The accommodation was always excellent and Dil/Prabin very thoughtful about food orders and making sure my brother and I were well fed and watered! We diverted our trip to Jinhu hot springs due to bad weather at high camp, which were wonderful - we can recommend a dip in the cold river followed by a dip in the hot springs. Gets the circulation going!

Kori Danda Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu
We will pick you up from the airport as per your scheldule and drive you to a hotel. An easy guided walk in the evening around the tourist center and old town.Day 2: Drive/Fly to Pokhara and further to Sikles village
As per the pre-arrangement, drive of fly to Pokhara and drive further to Siklis village. Overnigth in a village homestay / guest house.Day 3: Trek to Tosa - 5 - 6 hours (2,700 m / 6.2 km)
The trail from Sikles village climbs dwon about 250 m to Madi Nadi (River) (1,735 m) and then climbs to Hosa at 2,700 m.Day 4: Trek to Kori Danda - 6 hours (3,800 m / 6.3 km)
The trail further climbs through the Rhododendron forest and arrives at Kori Danda in about 6 - 7 hours.Day 5: Trek back to Tosa - 6 hours
Enjoy the mornig view and later descend to Tosa or Thulek village.Day 6: Trek back to Sikles and drive back to Pokhara
Trek back to Sikles village which will take about 5 hours and then take a jeep back to Pokhara.Day 7: Fly/Drive back to Kathmandu
Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Chitwan National Park, on the way back from Pokhara. It is one of the last vestiges of many endangered species like the Royal Bengal Tiger and the Asian single-horned rhino.
How Difficult is Kori Danda Trek ?
Kori Danda Trek is a relatively easy trek in the Annapurna. But it involves walking on rugged, beaten trails and climbing to Kori Danda at 3800m. The only feature that makes the Kori Hill Trek easier is that you can drive to Siklis at 1,980 m and climb gradually to Kori Danda in two days.
Is it safe from altitude sickness?
The trek is safe from altitude sickness as it allows two nights at a lower altitude before going to Kori Danda at 3,800 m. Moreover, Experienced and professional guides ensure acclimatization exercises, provide preventive medication, monitor development carefully, and change the itinerary to allow more time to acclimatize.
